About us
We are the Penn Alexander Tesla Robotics Team. We came up with our idea for the TESSA Barrel during the 2017-2018 FIRST Lego League Competition. For our project, we decided to make a rain barrel that alerts users when full. Rain barrels are intended to keep rainwater out of the sewers until they have sufficiently emptied to prevent sewer overflow. After taking a survey, we found that about 75% of rain barrel owners do not empty their rain barrels before a storm. This makes the use of a rain barrel pointless. We have created a rain barrel to do this. We did this with the help of Matthew Fritch from the Philadelphia Water Department and Karly Soldner from Drexel. We are moving on to the world competition in Detroit this April. If you are interested in this project please scroll down and sign up for our newsletter.
